Hair for Heavy Set Women
Q: Should heavy set women have shorter or longer hair? Which would make the face seem thinner?
A: You can’t make a black or white judgement about length of hair on a given woman. No matter who is in consideration, you have to account for face shape, features and the specifics of the build in order to make that judgement. Even then, it often comes down to a matter of personal preference.
I know many heavy women who have long hair, and just as many with short hair. The only generality that can usually be made is that heavy-set women usually have rounder faces and therefore need to have volume at the top of the hairstyle and less volume or bulk on the sides. The goal is to elongate the appearance of the face, giving the illusion of a more oval shape as opposed to a rounder one.
